Mariam Rajabali was born into the APDBO community, with her parents and grandparents actively contributing by cooking niyaaz (meals) for monthly programs and organizing logistics. This early involvement instilled in her a deep commitment to community service. As President, Mariam is dedicated to empowering members of the community, believing that this unity helps build bonds and provides essential support, especially to seniors who have contributed so much to APDBO. Alongside her volunteer work at APDBO, Mariam is a lawyer with a Juris Doctor degree and an Honours B.A. in business and psychology.
Faiyaz Khandwala joined the APDBO community in 1996, seeking a space to engage in critical dialogue and advocate for change. His family’s history and personal experiences shaped his view that some practices within the Dawoodi Bohra faith needed reform. APDBO provided Faiyaz a platform to connect with other members, both Bohra and non-Bohra, Muslim and non-Muslim, and to actively shape the future of the community. As Treasurer, he is committed to ensuring financial transparency and supporting the community’s growth. Outside his work with APDBO, Faiyaz is a Senior Technical Analyst and Advisor with a degree in Management Information Systems.
Originally from Nairobi, Kenya, Zul Adamji has been a dedicated member of the Dawoodi Bohra community for many years. His commitment to community service is rooted in a family legacy of leadership with decades of support as committee members in Kenya and Canada. Zul is the Secretary of APDBO. With his background and experience in other non profit communities and commitment to the Dawoodi Bohra community, he focuses on building inclusive initiatives, fostering intergenerational engagement, and upholding APDBO’s mission to serve and uplift the community in Ontario. Professionally, Zul brings valuable experience from his work in long-term care communities, where he has developed strong skills in coordination, empathy-driven service, and the management of complex, people-focused environments.
Tanveer Ismail was born and raised in Kenya, a proud mother of two boys and a two-time cancer survivor. She joined the APDBO community to connect with like-minded individuals who share her faith and values. Tanveer is passionate about organization, efficiency, and problem-solving, and is dedicated to supporting the community’s growth. In addition to her contributions to APDBO, Tanveer works as an Administrative Assistant and holds an Honours Diploma in Legal Assistant/Law Clerk.
